Breakfast at Tiffany's

The film is based on the novella by Truman Capote and was released in 1961. The beautiful Audrey Hepburn stars as the delightful Holly Golightly. Hepburn delivers a moving performance and her fashions in the film are iconic. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Actress.

"Trés Distingué!"

Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly and George Peppard as Paul Varjak

Shopping at Tiffany's for an item under $10.00! Quite the challenge even in 1961.

You can see Tiffany Blue in the background.

Inspired by that Iconic Color

The table was set elegantly, with silver-rimmed white china, sparkling crystal, and of course, a Tiffany Blue tablecloth.

Window shopping at her favorite place - Tiffany's!

Holly walks home in the morning after a night on the town -  quite fashionably I might add! Her coffee inspired our specialty cocktail and the pastry our dessert.

Cappuccino Martinis

In keeping with a breakfast theme we decided that Cappucino martinis would be exactly right. Shake them up well to get them good and frothy, sprinkle them with just a touch of cinnamon, and serve them ice cold. Delicious!

Smoked Salmon Toasts with Cucumber, Dill, and Capers

These herby smoked salmon toasts are a delicious accompaniment to our specialty cocktail. A little salty - a little crunchy - and perfect with our martinis.

"I hope you like chicken and saffron rice served with chocolate sauce."

Holly is the perfect host! She remains perfectly calm under pressure (cooker)!

"It's an East Indian classic, my dear."

The saffron creates a beautiful golden rice. This dish is wonderful to serve at a dinner party. It's unusual and really tasty. Serve it with a side salad of lettuce and chunky (Sally) tomatoes just like Holly did.

Tiaras Welcome!

We were enjoying our chocolate croissant bread pudding while discussing this amazing film. And yes, it tasted even better wearing a tiara!

Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding

I thought about a breakfast-inspired dessert - and croissant came to mind. This dessert is light and delicious.. and easy to make. Top it with lightly whipped vanilla whipped cream and you've got a memorable dessert!
