For the table setting, I wanted to recreate the look of the Space Station. The funky, bright pink chairs and the stark white room look so fresh and modern - even now!
The HAL Cocktail
The idea for this cocktail was inspired by HAL the computer and his large red eye. It's a twist on the classic Negroni. It's a vivid bright red color and a little bitter - just like HAL!

Taken from the scene when the astronauts sit down for a meal, I wanted to recreate the look of their prefab space food—but with something we'd actually want to eat! We served fresh vegetables and delicious dips instead of anything freeze-dried or boxed.

2001: A Space Odyssey was released in 1968. In the 1960s gelatin was all the rage. It may seem a little strange to think about tomato-flavored gelatin, but it's light and delicious. It's a twist on the classic shrimp cocktail - cool and refreshing. Taste the 1960s!
2001 Balsamic Chicken
When deciding what to serve for dinner, I did some research. Balsamic vinegar appeared in quite a few recipes in the year 2001. This is a straightforward yet tasty - prep-the-day-before recipe - which makes any dinner that much easier.
Spacey Cake
For dessert, we wanted to capture the cool, spacey look of the Stargate sequence. With some white chocolate, gelatin, and food coloring, we recreated that wild, psychedelic effect right on the cake! Just be sure your cake is cold and frosted before you begin. So many colors, so many combinations, so many possibilities!
